My thesis project sometimes seems to be a thorn in my side, yet it sustains me and keeps me going through a time of angst. There is always a painting that needs working on, no matter how bad life looks.

Not that we have just arrived; we have been here over a month and I have yet to feel really settled or grounded. But, perhaps this sense of dislocation has been helpful artistically as I do feel that I am immersing myself in my art and that my work is evolving in a new direction. Valencia inspires in that I am surrounded by the historical and the beautiful as well as urban ugliness.
My thesis project is progressing well. My original concepts and ideas have developed in a way I could not have predicted but I am quite pleased with the work I've produced thus far. I feel that I can combine the figurative with abstraction in a new innovation way.
